Charges have been laid in a stabbing in the community of South Calgary on Monday that left one man badly injured.

Officers were called to a home in the 1500 block of 33 Avenue S.W. at around 5 a.m. for reports of an injured man.

The victim, who had multiple stab wounds, was found in front of the house.

He was taken to hospital in serious condition, but has since been upgraded to stable, police say.

Officers took two suspects into custody shortly after.

Police believe the stabbing was the result of a fight that broke out between the three men in connection with “alleged stolen property.”

“The victim was able to escape the residence and flag down a passerby who then called police,” police explained.

A search of the home resulted in the seizure of metal pipes, fentanyl, methamphetamine and morphine pills with an estimated street value of $1,200.

Two men, a 35-year-old and a 38-year-old, are both charged with assault with a weapon.

One is set to appear in court tomorrow, while the other is scheduled to appear on Feb. 23.
