The family of Nancy Guthrie has announced a reward of up to $1 million for information that leads to her recovery, intensifying efforts to find the 84-year-old who disappeared from her Arizona home earlier this month.

Her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, shared the emotional appeal in a video posted to Instagram, marking her first public message in more than a week. Fighting back tears, the “Today” show co-anchor acknowledged the painful possibility that her mother “may already be gone,” but stressed the family’s urgent need for answers.

“But we need to know where she is. We need her to come home,” she said, urging anyone with information to come forward.

The family-funded reward is separate from the $100,000 reward already offered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for information related to the case. Additional reward money is also being offered through local Crime Stoppers programs.

Nancy Guthrie was last seen on January 31 at her secluded home in Tucson. Authorities believe she was taken from the residence against her will during the early morning hours of February 1. Since then, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies — including the Pima County Sheriff’s Department — have conducted an extensive search of the surrounding desert terrain.

Masked Suspect Seen on Doorbell Camera

Investigators previously released images and video from a doorbell camera at Guthrie’s home, showing a masked individual tampering with the device the morning she is believed to have disappeared. The suspect is described as a man approximately 5’9” to 5’10” tall with an average build. He was seen wearing what authorities identified as an Ozark backpack and a distinctive gun holster.

New information suggests the masked person may have visited the home on more than one occasion. However, Sheriff Chris Nanos cautioned that there are no confirmed timestamps on the images, calling any claims that the photos were taken on separate days “speculative.” Authorities say conclusions will be based strictly on verified evidence.

Investigators have reviewed thousands of hours of surveillance footage collected from homes, businesses and public agencies across the greater Tucson area. Residents were asked to submit video dating back to January 1, with particular focus on activity during specific timeframes in mid- and late January.

Ongoing Forensic Work and No Clear Motive

Law enforcement officials confirmed that DNA recovered from gloves found roughly two miles from Guthrie’s home did not match DNA collected inside the residence, nor did it produce hits in the national CODIS database. Laboratory testing on additional evidence remains ongoing.

Two individuals were briefly detained earlier in the investigation but later released. Authorities have stated that family members are not considered suspects.

Despite weeks of searching and thousands of tips, investigators have not publicly identified a motive or confirmed whether more than one person may have been involved. The case continues to draw national attention as the search enters its fourth week.

Donation to Support Other Missing Families

In addition to the reward announcement, Savannah Guthrie said the family is donating $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She expressed hope that the public focus on her mother’s disappearance will also shine a light on other families searching for missing loved ones.

“We still believe,” she said in the video. “Hope against hope, we are blowing on the embers of hope.”

Authorities continue to urge anyone with credible information to contact law enforcement immediately.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
