A major early morning fire caused serious damage to a commercial building in southwest Calgary, where an auto performance shop and luxury vehicle dealership were operating under one roof.
Emergency crews responded quickly as flames spread through the structure in the Manchester industrial district.
Fire Breaks Out Near 1A Street and 53 Avenue Southwest
The fire was reported in the area near 1A Street S.W. and 53 Avenue S.W., where smoke could be seen rising across several nearby blocks.
Fire crews launched a large response to prevent the blaze from spreading further.
Auto Businesses Inside Building Hit Hard
The damaged building houses Tunerworks, an automotive performance and repair business, along with Kulu Motorcar, a luxury vehicle dealership.
Luxury Vehicles Severely Burned
Several luxury vehicles inside the property were heavily damaged.
Visible destruction included burned vehicle frames, shattered interior sections and major heat damage across the showroom area.
Firefighters Continue Hotspot Operations
Even after the main flames were brought under control, firefighters remained on site to manage hotspots and prevent flare-ups.
A large number of emergency vehicles remained deployed throughout the morning.
Structural Damage Visible
Parts of the building’s outer wall collapsed during the fire, exposing interior sections where vehicles had been stored.
The southeast side of the structure suffered some of the heaviest visible destruction.
Police Assist with Traffic Control
Calgary Police Service officers also attended the scene to manage traffic and secure surrounding roads while emergency crews continued operations.
Cause Under Investigation
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed.
Investigators are expected to review the site after crews fully secure the building.
