Calgary youth interested in emergency service careers have only a short time left to apply for the next edition of Camp Courage Calgary, with applications closing on March 20.

The program is designed for young women and gender diverse youth aged 15 to 18.

Program Focused on First Responder Careers

Camp participants explore careers connected to:

  • fire services
  • policing
  • paramedicine

Free Week Long Experience

The camp runs as a free week long program offering direct exposure to emergency service environments.

Participants take part in practical activities and team based challenges.

Leadership and Confidence Building Included

Organizers say the program is designed to help youth build:

  • leadership skills
  • confidence
  • teamwork
  • career awareness

Calgary Marks Fifth Year of the Program

This year marks the fifth time the camp is being held in Calgary.

The original concept began in Halifax in 2006 before expanding to other cities.

Emergency Services Working Together

The initiative is delivered through collaboration involving:

  • Calgary Police Service
  • Calgary Fire Department
  • Alberta Health Services emergency responders
