Calgary Police Investigate Serious Assault in Southeast Domestic Incident

Calgary Police Service continues to investigate a serious assault in southeast Calgary after a man was found in life threatening condition following a late evening emergency call.

Police said officers responded at approximately 9 p.m. on Wednesday night after reports of a physical altercation in the 2300 block of Crestwood Road S.E. When officers arrived at the location, they found an injured man suffering severe medical distress.

Emergency medical teams transported the victim to hospital where he remains under critical care. Authorities confirmed that his condition continues to be life threatening while doctors monitor his recovery.

Investigators say the incident is currently being treated as a domestic case and early findings suggest the assault took place during a personal dispute rather than a random public attack.

Police also stated that there is no immediate threat to the public at this stage of the investigation, although officers continue efforts to locate individuals believed to be connected to the case.

Because the investigation remains at an early stage, officials have not yet released details regarding the relationship between the victim and suspects, nor have they confirmed how many people may have been involved.

The case has now been assigned to the homicide unit because of the critical condition of the victim, which is standard procedure in incidents where injuries are considered potentially fatal.
