Every year on 23 March, Pakistan Resolution Day is celebrated across Pakistan and by Pakistani communities around the world. This historic day marks the passing of the Lahore Resolution in 1940, a defining moment that laid the foundation for the creation of Pakistan. The resolution, presented in Lahore, called for independent states for Muslims of the subcontinent and remains a symbol of unity, determination, and vision. Wherever Pakistanis live, they proudly gather to commemorate this day, reflecting on their shared history and cultural identity.

In Canada, Pakistan Resolution Day is marked with great enthusiasm in cities such as Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, and Calgary. Among these, one of the most impressive and well-organized gatherings took place in Calgary, hosted by the Pakistan Canada Association (PCA). This event held special significance as it was the first major gathering organized under the newly elected body of the association.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, creating a respectful and spiritual atmosphere, followed by the formal proceedings conducted by stage secretary Siama Arshad. Her confident hosting added energy and structure to the event. The gathering witnessed a large turnout of community members, families, and youth, reflecting the growing unity and engagement within the Pakistani Canadian community.

President Azhar Hunjra addressed the audience with a heartfelt speech about the importance of Pakistan Day and the responsibility of overseas Pakistanis to preserve their heritage. Vice President Hassan Nawab spoke about community initiatives and highlighted future plans to bring people together through cultural and social programs. General Secretary Nouman Mushtaq emphasized the need for better organization and transparency while outlining efforts to improve community facilities and engagement.

Several respected community figures also shared their thoughts, including Burhan Khan, Naeem Choudry (former PCA President), Imtiaz Kadher, and Khurram Tauheed from Friends Café. They spoke about unity, the significance of 23 March, and the importance of keeping younger generations connected to their roots. Their speeches added depth and perspective to the celebration.

A major highlight of the event was the recognition of General Secretary Nouman Mushtaq, who was especially praised by attendees—particularly Burhan Khan—for personally contributing from his own resources toward woodwork improvements at Pakistan House Calgary. This gesture was seen as a true example of dedication and leadership. President Azhar Hunjra, Vice President Hassan Nawab, Naseem, and other organizers were also widely appreciated for their hard work and commitment to making the event successful.

The celebration concluded with a beautifully arranged cake-cutting ceremony led by the PCA President, symbolizing unity and joy. A special and memorable feature of the program was the Haleem party hosted by Vice President Hassan Nawab, which was enjoyed by all attendees. The delicious food, warm atmosphere, and strong sense of community made the event truly unforgettable, leaving participants with pride in their identity and hope for a stronger, more connected future.
